SANFORD, Fla.—Early voting is now underway across the Central Florida region.

It’s a race to the polls. Early voting sites are now open across Central Florida. Linda Hallman has lived in Florida for over 4 decades. She told Spectrum News 13 she votes because it’s important.

“Your vote always counts. It’s the one vote that makes a difference. It could be a tie and your vote is the vote that makes the difference. You’re the one who has to make that difference,” Hallman said.

What You Need To Know

  • Early voting is open in all Central Florida counties.

  • Even if registered voters aren’t in a major political party, they still have a ballot.

As more people head to the polls this primary election, Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Chris Anderson is ready.

“One of the biggest things is training our election workers. We’re talking about 2,500 election workers that had to be trained in less than 30 days. They’re high speed, they’re ready to go, they’re ready to accept voters with a big smile on their face. When you go out and see your election worker, please thank them for their service,” Anderson told Spectrum News.

As the area grows, Anderson wants to set the record straight.

“Just because you are not a member of a major party affiliation does not mean you do not have a ballot today. Yes you do,” said Anderson.

A major nonpartisan race happening in each county is school board races. Something that’s decided during primaries, not during the November general election. For Hallman, she’s just happy to cast her ballot.

“It’s important who represents you. It’s important to be a part. It’s important to make a choice, you have to,” said Hallman.
