According to information from the Orlando Police Department, the girl was present when her mother, Lakrisha S. Isaac, 31, got into an altercation with another woman just before midnight in the 1400 block of Mercy Drive.

At some point during the confrontation, Isaac reportedly handed her daughter a bag that contained a firearm. The girl is accused of taking the gun out of the bag and shooting the other woman two times, investigators said.

The shooting victim, later identified as 41-year-old Lashun Denise Rodgers, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, but was pronounced dead when she arrived.

Information from the Orlando Police Department initially said that the 10-year-old had been charged with second-degree murder in the case, but State Attorney Monique H. Worrell later clarified the situation, saying a decision on charges has not yet been made.

"Our office has started the process of reviewing this case and will consider all of the facts, including the age of the child, and all of the surrounding circumstances, when making a charging decision," Worrell said in an emailed statement. "We want to be clear in stating that no charging decision has been made by our office.

"However, we anticipate that whatever charges we eventually file, if any, will ensure she receives the interventions necessary to address her behavior, help her change and grow, and ensure the public's safety going forward."

Worrell also said that people need to remember how young the girl accused in the killing is.

"We encourage the public to remember — no matter your feelings surrounding this tragedy — this is still a child," she said.

Isaac was arrested at the scene on charges of manslaughter by culpable negligence, child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and aggravated assault with a firearm

The 10-year-old girl was released to the Florida Department of Children and Families immediately after the shooting.

She is currently in the custody at the Juvenile Detention Center in Orlando.

No other details on Tuesday's arrest were immediately available.
