ORLANDO, Fla. — Disney will soon debut a large digital display along International Drive, the company announced Friday.

- The giant screen will be located on the side of the Hollywood Plaza parking garage
- A new Disney World store will open May 31 on the ground level of the garage
The giant screen, which was first announced last year, will be located on the outside of the Hollywood Plaza parking garage located in the International Drive and Interstate 4 corridor.
In a blog post Friday, Disney said the “ribbon-like” art display will change from time-to-time. To start, it will feature the Fab 50 sculptures of characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck and Figment. The sculptures made their debut at the Disney World theme parks last fall as part of the resort’s 50th anniversary celebration.
“We took a lot of knowledge from setting up the 50th art installations in our parks and the Orlando International Airport and wanted to spread a little magic out into the world,” said Will Gay, design director with Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group, in a statement. “It all started with a little idea and a question — could we do this? Could we turn this into a dynamic art display bigger than anything we’ve ever done before?”
On the ground level of the parking garage will be a new Walt Disney World store, opening May 31. It will sell merchandise and theme park tickets and also feature the first interactive Disney Vacation Club Virtual Discovery Station.
The virtual station will feature “floor-to-ceiling” screens that highlight resorts as well as parks and cruise destinations through virtual tours, photos and videos.
Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration, which kicked off Oct. 1, is slated to last 18 months.
