ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Hundreds of those in need flocked to east Orange County on Saturday for the Impact Homelessness Resource Fair.

The event was the second of its kind hosted by the Orange County Sheriff's Office, with the help of many community partners.

Anyone that attended was able to get a hair cut, a shower, a new set of clothes and lunch all for free. They also offered health screenings, COVID-19 tests and groceries at no charge. Carlos Rodriguez, who was thrilled with this event, shared that it will help him get one step closer to moving out of the Salvation Army shelter.

"I am going to take this bag, it helps me out, don't have to pull out of my pocket and waste that money that I am saving for my apartment,” said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez added that he took extra supplies with him to give out himself, as he said many in need around the area are not comfortable asking for help.

The community engagement team with the Orange County Sheriff's office shared they are already working on another event like this, which will be held in a different part of the county.
