ORLANDO, Fla. — People pushing for peace took to the streets of downtown Orlando on Sunday, making their voices heard. “Stop Putin Stop War” read the banners held high by Ukrainian immigrants. It comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin lines up forces that appear poised to invade Ukraine.

What You Need To Know

While it’s still unknown when, or whether, Putin could attack, U.S. leaders say it could have a far-reaching global impact if he does.

On Sunday, Yuliia Konstantinova was one to protest for peace at the Orange County courthouse. Now living in Orlando with her husband and children, she was born in Ukraine.

She’s been in Orlando for a year and still visits her parents in Ukraine as often as she can. Now, she’s worried for their safety. She asks for prayers for her native country.

“(Ukraine) means everything to me because I was raised there,” Konstantinova tearfully explained.

“I was given education there. I was given everything there, but sometimes it happens there are circumstances where you have to live outside the country you were born in,” she continued.

She asks for respect for borders and for people’s privacy; hoping Putin will not invade.
