Nicole Jackson, the 14-year-old girl accused of getting into a shoot-out with Volusia County deputies last summer, faced a judge Wednesday morning.

Authorities say she ran away from Florida United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise back in June, broke into a nearby home and shot at deputies with guns she found inside.
Jackson’s lawyers asked for the case to be continued, saying they are not quire ready for trial. Jackson is set to be tried as an adult on charges of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, armed burglary and felony criminal mischief.
In court, Jackson told the judge that she understood what was going on. The judge set another case management hearing for February. The judge said she wants to get a trial date on the books soon.
The 12-year-old boy who was with Jackson during the episode will be tried in juvenile court.
