The Winter Garden Christmas Golf Cart parade was back on Sunday after getting derailed by a dangerous driver last week.
The stars of this show of course are the golf carts and the people who decorate them.
“We’re beating the supply chain crisis with this float!” said Don Irvine.
Two Winter Garden couples, the Irvines and the Vautours, teamed up to make this supply chain themed float, complete with shipping containers, longshoremen and a tug boat captained by Mickey Mouse himself.
Pat Irvine got the idea after seeing all the news stories about pandemic impacts on shipping.
“That’s all you see on the news is the freighters and the container ships, so I sent a picture to Ivan and said, 'What can we do with this?” Pat said.
Her brother-in-law Ivan Vautour was more than up for the challenge.
“I used to work in R&D designing robots and stuff so I said, 'Okay, well let’s put the little ingenuity to work," Ivan said.
He says it took them more than 16 hours to get it all together, but it paid off. The team won the grand prize of $250 for the best decorated float!

They were supposed to show off their hard work last week, but a reckless driver who almost hit a police officer shut down last week’s parade.
“It just breaks your heart,” Pat said.
Organizers and the city decided to do it this Sunday instead.
Winter Garden Police stepped up security measures, closing streets several hours before the parade started.
So the nearly decade-old Winter Garden tradition continues.
Each golf cart team pays an admission fee of $50, which is then donated to local, West Orange County nonprofits.
The golf cart dream team of the Irvines and Vautours' hard work didn’t go to waste this year.
If this parade tells you anything, it's that it takes a lot more than an alleged criminal driver to steal this town’s Christmas spirit.
