Among the jolly volunteers today were Kat McCann and her husband Tom. The McCanns are veteran volunteers with Meals on Wheels.
On Christmas, they were busy delivering food and gifts to seniors who often feel forgotten.
Just like Santa himself, these two carry their precious cargo.
“It’s so special to be able to show up on Christmas Morning when they aren’t expecting it,” said Kat McCann.
The deliveries include a bunch of items such as roast beef, kale, mashed potatoes and more along with wrapped gifts filled with donated items.
“Some people are alone and would be alone all day long,” Kat McCann said. “Some people don’t have anyone coming to see them. So, it’s special to show up for them and be there for them.”
They want to be here and make a difference.
“We just try to make people’s days a bit merrier,” said Tom McCann. “The takeaway is the warm feeling knowing this really means something to them.”
Meals on Wheels Executive Director Michael McKee couldn’t be more proud of his team.
“They’re in our parking lots, they’re in our halls today. We love it, we’ve had this decorated for a month now. Today is the day to shine, Christmas is here.”
