ORLANDO, Fla. — Monday is day four of the 19-day busy travel period at Orlando International Airport. They are expecting about 137,000 people to pass through the airport.

On Saturday, the TSA screened more than 2 million people nationally, which is only about 400,000 people less than 2019.

What You Need To Know

  • This travel season is already off to a busy start, expecting to rival pre-pandemic levels in 2019

  • OIA's expecting about 137,000 people to pass through the airport on Monday

  • More than 2.6 million travelers are expected at OIA this season

  • Officials recommend arriving to the airport 3 hours early

With more than 2.6 million people expected to come through Orlando International Airport this season, it's only about 3% short of 2019.

"We're recommending 3 hours before your flight because we know it's going to be a challenge getting parking space. And to the extent that people can carpool, and have somebody drop them off. I usually don't say that, but I think for everybody's purposes, it's probably well-advised for them to consider that," Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Phil Brown CEO said

One thing to be aware of is that the airport is funneling drivers differently this holiday season, so if you're coming from the south you'll be parking in a different area than the north.

They'll also have overflow parking available, so we're not seeing the congestion from the Thanksgiving holiday.

International travel returned in November when travel restrictions were lifted.

Brown said he's hopeful there will be a large number of UK and EU travelers returning this holiday season like years past — as long as passengers can follow the COVID-19 testing requirements.
