The Magic defeated the Nets 100-93 on Saturday night in a game in which 10 Nets and five Magic players could not play because they were in the health and safety protocols.
Orlando signed four members of its G League team to have enough athletes to compete before departing on a three-game road trip because it also has many injured players. The Magic's Mo Bamba, Terrence Ross, R.J. Hampton, Iggy Brazdeikis and Moe Wagner missed Saturday's game because they were in health and safety protocols.
Nets star guard Kyrie Irving and MVP candidate Kevin Durant were placed into protocols Saturday. The team announced about an hour before the game rookie forward Day'Ron Sharpe would join them, as well as De'Andre Bembry, Bruce Brown, Jevon Carter, LaMarcus Aldridge, James, Johnson, Paul Millsap and James Harden.
The postponements Sunday came on the same day that Atlanta announced star guard Trae Young entered the league’s health and safety protocols and the Los Angeles Lakers said coach Frank Vogel also was added to the list.
The Cavaliers had five players enter the protocols Sunday, the team said. All five — center Jarrett Allen, forwards Lamar Stevens and Dylan Windler and guards Denzel Valentine and RJ Nembhard — tested positive for COVID-19, according to a person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team did not release that specific detail.
