Miracle, renamed after surviving the September 15th fire, suffered severe smoke inhalation. The smoke killed 17 cats at the shelter, according to Pet Alliance. 71 animals were rescued. All but four have been adopted.

Miracle was among several cats recovered from the building the morning after the fire. Miracle received frequent oxygen treatments at Pet Alliance’s clinic in Sanford.

About a month ago, Marianne Rhodehamel of Orange County took her in as a foster, calling her a sweet, fun cat. “She gives kisses and headbutts and she likes belly rubs.” Rhodehamel plans to foster Miracle until she is healthy enough to be spayed, at which point she can be put up for adoption.
