Black soldiers have fought on the front lines of America's wars — at home and on blood-soaked battlefields all around the world — since before our nation was founded.
Their experience in uniform has been an evolving one. Through segregation and other forms of blatant bigotry, these American heroes fought on.
This episode of Justice for All, hosted by Spectrum News 13 anchor Tammie Fields, explores their history of dedicated service and contemplates the racial disparities that still exist among the ranks.
Guests:
- Martha Taylor Butler, Air Force veteran Tri-City NAACP branch president and VP of the National Association of Black Military Women
- Bennie Jackson Jr., Navy Veteran and South Brevard County NAACP chapter vice president
- Dr. Douglas Bristol, author and associate professor of history at University of Southern Mississippi
- FL Rep Fentrice Driskell (D-District 63)
