ORLANDO, Fla. — Still unpacking after moving to Central Florida back in June, Auralee Schreck knows she has a lot of work to do.

“It's a lifestyle,” she said.

Judging by her pins, backpacks, and figurines, it's clear to see she's a Disney fan.

It's something she has been proud of since she was a child growing up in Pennsylvania.

“When I was little I would tell people I'm going to work for Mickey Mouse. And they all laughed,” Schreck said.

More than four decades later, they're not laughing any more.

Schreck gave up her full time, reliable job running a call center in Pennsylvania, to work for Disney.

“Truthfully I was unhappy at my job and my husband said to me, ‘just apply at Disney and see what happens’,” she remembers. “And I applied on the Sunday before Memorial Day and the Wednesday after Memorial Day I had a job.”

Schreck made it to Disney just in time to celebrate the resort's 50th anniversary.

“I just think if you're there now, you're part of something that's never going to happen again,” Schreck said. “Because it's the big one, it's the 50th. So if you're there, you're a part of that.”

Schreck is looking forward to the future of Disney World, including the new Star Wars Hotel, opening March 1st of next year, and the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster at Epcot, also opening sometime next year. Beyond that, she can’t wait to ride the new Tron Coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom. An opening for that hasn’t been announced.

Schreck almost never thought this would happen.

“I was getting older and we were kind of stuck in our ways in Pennsylvania,” she said.

But she's glad she uprooted her family and moved to Central Florida, scooping ice cream at the parlor on Main Street.

“Age is just a number when you're there,” she tells us, “nobody cares that you're the older one when you're there.”

Schreck has aspirations to advance in the company, but regardless of what happens, she has no regrets.

“I'm happier now than I have been in 46 years,” she said.
