- Pilot program targeting underserved areas in Osceola County
- COVID-19 vaccines will be distributed at various churches in the county
- On Monday, more than 600 vaccines were given out at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church
Besides the regular vaccine allocation by the Health Department, Osceola County was chosen to be a part of a pilot program by the Governor to administer extra vaccines at places of worship.
On Monday, more than 600 vaccines were given to the parishioners of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. In the next several weeks, a different church will be chosen as part of this pilot program, to reach another demographic.
“DOH will start doing community outreach too. We have two mobile trailers that DOH has in their inventory now,” said Bill Litton, Emergency Management Director for Osceola County. “So once we get more vaccines coming into the state and into the county then they’ll be able to do targeted population.”
Litton said they’re in talks with St. Luke’s Missionary Baptist Church in Kissimmee and Cornerstone Church in St. Cloud as possible next locations.
