MASCOTTE, Fla. — Prosecutors have dropped the charges that had been brought against former Mascotte City Manager Jim Gleason, citing insufficient evidence.
Gleason was arrested on felony battery and disorderly conduct charges after a city council meeting in August.
According to a Mascotte Police report, Gleason got into an argument with City Council Member Brenda Brasher and her husband, Randy Brasher, who is also the Mascotte Fire Chief, following the city council meeting.
City council members had previously voted not to renew Gleason’s contract, which was set to expire in October.
