ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando Science Center has set a date for its reopening.

The museum will reopen to the public June 15, after begin closed for nearly three months because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In an update on its website, Orlando Science Center outlined some of the changes visitors should expect.
For starters, capacity will be limited to 25 percent initially. The museum said it would consider raising capacity to 50 percent when it feels it's safe to do so. The museum will also use timed entry, with admission available by reservation only. Visitors will need reserve an entry time in advance online.
All visitors ages 3 and older will be required to wear a face mask. Temperature checks are also required for entry. Anyone with a temperature over 100 degrees will not be allowed to enter the museum that day and neither will anyone in their party.
Some exhibits at the museum will only be open for one party at a time, including the smaller dig stations in DinoDigs and the Adaptation Station in NatureWorks, to allow for physical distancing. Other exhibits will be open but with modifications.
Markers have been placed throughout the museum to remind visitors to keep space between them.
Staff will be cleaning exhibits and high-touch areas throughout the day. Also, about 30 new hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed throughout the facility.
“We recognize that inspiring science learning today will look different than it did prior to the pandemic,” president and CEO JoAnn Newman said in the museum’s reopening plan. “First and foremost, we are dedicated to a safe and gradual reopening that utilizes the principles of science to guide us.”
Orlando Science Center will also modify its operating hours. For the time being, the museum will be closed on Wednesdays for cleaning and staff training. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Tuesdays and Thursdays through Saturday. On Sundays, operating hours will be noon to 5 p.m.
General admission tickets for the Orlando Science Center go on sale June 12 and should be purchased online. Members will need to reserve a time for their visits.
