Deputies will help distribute food to area pantries this week to help families struggling to put food on the table due to hardships created by the coronavirus pandemic.
The shipment is expected to provide much-needed items to replenish shelves by families needing assistance at a time when unemployment numbers in the state are skyrocketing.
Lake Cares Food Pantry in Mount Dora says it has delivered more than 2,000 pounds of groceries per day, but before the pandemic it averaged only 1,500 pounds.
