APOPKA, Fla. — Apopka Police Department Deputy Chief Randy Fernandez has been suspended following allegations abuse of power, the department announced Monday.

  • Apopka deputy police chief relieved of duty with pay
  • He's being accused of abusing his authority 
  • Apopka Police Internal Affairs investigating the claims

According to Apopka Police spokesperson Sgt. Kim Walsh, Fernandez was “relieved of duty with pay” after being accused of abusing his authority/position.  

The police department’s Internal Affairs is investigating the accusations against the deputy chief.

Apopka Police offered no other comment or details.

Fernandez’s suspension comes after Orlando Fire Chief Roderick Williams resigned from his position last Thursday amid accusations he harassed and discriminated against a female employee.
