ORLANDO, Fla. — A stretch of Colonial Drive in downtown Orlando will close during the night this weekend as crews work on a new pedestrian bridge.

Colonial will shut down between Orange Avenue and Garland Avenue while crews install cables and truss for the bridge.

The closures will occur between:

  • Friday at 10 p.m. to Saturday at 6 a.m.
  • Saturday at 11:30 p.m. to Sunday at 6 a.m.

Detours will be set up for drivers on Colonial Drive. Westbound and eastbound drivers will have two different detour options, going either north or south of Colonial.

Construction crews are building a new quarter-mile pedestrian bridge over State Road 50 that connects downtown to the north quarter, with links to the Orlando Urban Trail, and the SunRail and LYNX stations. The bridge is set to open in early spring. More details can be found on the city of Orlando website.
