PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — One of Disney Cruise Line's newest ships could include the name "Triton," Canaveral Port Authority documents indicate.
- Port Canaveral documents reveal "Triton" name
- Documents are linked to a Disney Cruise Line project
- Terminal 8, 10 are set to undergo renovations
The words "Triton" and "Triton Class" appear on renderings released ahead of a Wednesday commission meeting.
The Port Canaveral commission met Wednesday and approved a proposed $46 million renovation of Terminals 8 and 10. Disney currently operates out of Terminal 8, but Terminal 10 will be used to support at least one of the company's new ships.
The three new ships, which were announced in 2017, will be about 140,000 gross tons, making them larger than Disney's current fleet. Currently, the Disney Dream and the Disney Magic sail year-round out of Port Canaveral.
The first of the new ships is slated to arrive in 2021, with the other two following in 2022 and 2023.
Triton could be the name of one of the new ships, the name of Disney's new class of ships or a placeholder name for the project.
