- Wedding guests were given gift cards to buy toys as well
- The toys will go to Toys for Tots
Brad and Jessica Bond of Homestead tied the knot on Saturday in Orlando.
The couple's story began with their first date seven years ago, when they went to Target and bought toys to give to Toys for Tots. It's a tradition they have continued every year on the anniversary of their first date.
The couple wanted to keep the tradition alive so, on Saturday, they invited their entire wedding party to Target to shop for Toys for Tots.
"Today on our wedding day we want to start it the same way, but we want all of you to join us," said Brad, the groom.
The 100 wedding guests were then given envelopes with Target gift cards inside.
When Brad first thought of adding a Toys for Tots shopping trip on his wedding day, he didn't know how Jessica would feel about going to Target in a wedding dress.
"I asked her, and she immediately lit up and was all about it," Brad said. "And if I didn't know I had the woman of my dreams before, that cemented it."
Target also donated a shopping cart full of toys to the couple as they left the store.
The couple says they also buy toys throughout the year.
Toys for Tots program, which is run by the United States Marine Corps, distributes toys to children whose parents who cannot afford to buy them for Christmas.
