ORLANDO, Fla. — Two crashes involving trains occurred within hours of each other at an Orlando rail crossing Thursday.
- 2 separate trains crash into vehicles hours apart at same crossing
- In 1st crash, Amtrak train struck back of pickup truck
- 2nd crash involved SunRail train that hit vehicle partially on tracks
Shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, an Amtrak train was involved in a minor crash at the crossing on East Colonial Drive between Orange Avenue and Interstate 4.
Spectrum News crews say the train, which originated in New York, hit the bed of a pickup truck, causing minor damage. No injuries were reported.
The train continued on its way to Miami less than an hour later.
The crash shut down the road for a brief period. Orlando Police were investigating, and Amtrak is cooperating, the service said.
Earlier in the day, a southbound SunRail train struck the back of a vehicle that had partially stopped on the tracks at the Colonial Drive crossing.
No injuries were reported to the 47 passengers and two crew members aboard, but FDOT said SunRail train service would be delayed.
