DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Two people were injured Saturday after a small plane crashed in a Daytona Beach neighborhood, according to the Fire Department.

The crash happened at about 3 p.m. in the 100 block of Campanello Court.
The plane hit two houses before crashing in a retention pond, firefighters said.
Two people were on board when the plane went down during a thunderstorm. Both were alert and talking when emergency responders arrived at the scene. They were transported to Halifax Hospital with minor injuries.
One of the houses had minor damage while the other had "more extensive damage" and a hole in the roof, said Sasha Staton, a spokeswoman for the Daytona Beach Fire Department.
No one inside either home was injured.
The plane landed upside down in the retention pond and will have to be removed.
The National Transportation Safety Board is now investigating the crash.
