A semi-truck carrying perfume caught fire early Friday morning on I-95 in Brevard County.
Brevard County Fire Rescue said the fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. after one of the semi’s tires caught fire.
Fire officials said the semi was carrying 2,700 pounds of perfume. Because perfume is flammable, a HAZMAT crew was called to the scene. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection also responded.
Some of the perfume was dumped onto the road and the rest burned. Firefighters were able to douse the flames and get the fire under control.
No one was injured.
The Florida Highway Patrol closed all but one lane of I-95 South at mile marker 209 near Port St. John. Traffic is backed up for miles.
Drivers can exit at State Road 50 to State Road 405, then turn right on US-1, right onto State Road 528 and then left back onto I-95 South.
