WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — It’s the season for all things spooky and the time of year to get into all the fall festivities. Even while those of us here in Florida don’t have that chilly weather that most are used to, we still have all the fun of the October season.

In this week’s Florida on a Tankful, Spectrum News takes you to Winter Garden where we explore Plant Street Market and the brewery that’s made this spot their official location.

“Right there we attach to the keg,” Head Brewer Todd Glass explained.

It’s a meticulous, detail-oriented job when you’re a head brewer. Working to concoct craft beer and not just knowing the science behind it all, but production and day-to-day operations as well. And when you’re someone like Todd Glass who’s been brewing and working with beer for over a decade, all those tasks become second nature.

“This career is something that came a little later in life for me,” Glass said. “Before brewing, I was in the pharmaceutical and manufacturing industry, but I started home brewing and I caught the bug and ended up wanting to turn it into a career.”

Now, he’s been head brewer at Crooked Can Brewery in Winter Garden for the past seven years.

The brewery was founded by Andrew Sheeter in 2014 after a group ski trip to Colorado. The idea for Crooked Can was born out of a love of beer and the breweries out west. Now, continuing to thrive years later, they’re still hard at work crafting their own local blends inside Plant Street Market.

“We like to think we are as important to Winter Garden as we are to them. It’s very much a community and Winter Garden in general has done so much as a city to bring redevelopment to downtown and this wonderful historic district we are in, so it’s a wonderful mutual relationship,” CEO Alan Delahunt said.

The brewery and market creates a unique blend of food, entertainment and award-winning craft beer, a spot great for adults and families alike. Crooked Can Brewery is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. They’re located inside the Plant Street Market.

They’ll be hosting their annual Oktoberfest this weekend, starting Oct. 14 through Oct. 16. For more information on the brewery and all upcoming events at Plant Street Market, head to their website here.
