BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Vladimir “Dutch” Labissere has been taking pictures of celebrities for over a decade.

Dutch is a paparazzo who often waits in hot spots like Beverly Hills restaurants and more, looking for celebrities to capture. In a good year, as Dutch explained, he can make over half a million dollars selling his photos. Most of the time, he doesn’t have his camera in his hand because it’s all about patience, focus, and study.

What You Need To Know

  • Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex has drawn a lot of of interest with their interview with Oprah

  • Paparazzi photographer Vladimir “Dutch” Labissere knows how much a picture of the royal couple is worth

  • An exclusive photo the couple could go for as much as six figures

  • In a good year, Dutch said he can make at least a half million dollars

"I know their plates," Dutch said. "I know their cars. I seem to know some of their patterns."

Dutch and another photographer were some of the lucky ones who captured the first shots of the royal couple in their new home of Southern California, including when Prince Harry was filming with CBS late night host James Corden. Photos like that are worth big-time money.

“First access images, it can gain you six figures, man,” said Dutch. “Like seriously, you can get a six-figure shot. Every time something new comes into the fold, it raises the price point.”

Financial gain notwithstanding, there are critics who demonize the paparazzi. Some blame Princess Diana’s fatal car accident in 1997 on photographers. Dutch said it’s an unfair criticism.

“You can’t put it on the paparazzi, are at fault, for that person driving the way they were,” he said.

Still, Dutch doesn’t believe in hounding and hunting down celebrities either.

“I don’t see me going 'ham' after somebody at this point for a shot that may or may not sell.”

On Saturday, Dutch went to a Hollywood grocery store looking for celebrities. He spotted Joan Collins and was ready for her when she walked out with his camera ready to go.

“I love finding somebody that nobody actually knows that they needed," said Dutch. "Like my favorite is to find the diamond in the rough.”

It’s all in the life of the paparazzi. You never who you’re going to find or where you’re going to find them.
