From the six Asian women killed in a shooting in Atlanta to Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis apologizing for saying a slur, the national spotlight now focuses on violence and hate directed at Asian Americans, and it is not the first time they have experienced this.

For the longest time, it was overlooked in the psyche of many Americans, even during this past year throughout the pandemic, when political leaders used an Asian slur to describe the COVID-19.

But Atlanta changed all that and Ricky Ly says that speaking out against Asian discrimination is a first step to combatting it.
