KISSIMMEE, Fla. — This year's theme for Gaylord Palms Resort's longtime attraction, "ICE!" will be centered around New Line Cinema's popular holiday movie, "Elf," officials announced Thursday.
Giant sculptures and scenes will be hand-carved from 2 million pounds of ice and out on display for the event, which will run from Nov. 15 - Jan. 4.
Inside the attraction, guests will experience about a dozen different scenes, some soaring as high as 30 feet, officials said. Guests will be able to follow Buddy the Elf’s journey from the North Pole to New York City. Along the way, they’ll encounter favorite characters from the film, including Papa Elf, Mr. Narwhal, Jovie, Walter Hobbs, and of course, Santa Claus.
Several frozen scenes will feature seating areas where guests can insert themselves into the story to create unique photo moments, for example, guests can join Buddy the Elf in his North Pole school classroom or sit next to him as he gets a shoeshine in New York City.
Guests will also get to see live ice carving demonstrations by a master artisan in the Carver’s Showcase.
“ICE! is a favorite tradition of many of our guests here at Gaylord Palms, and we are excited to introduce them to the beloved world of ‘Elf’ this Christmas,” said Ross Barker, Gaylord Palms Resort's general manager in a statement. “The 9-degree attraction provides a one-of-a-kind experience for friends and family to enjoy together, and complements the many other family friendly activities, events, live shows and dining experiences we have planned this holiday season.”
Many other holiday-themed events will be planned at the resort this year, including live shows and shopping opportunities. Get more information at Gaylord Palms Resort's website.
