What You Need To Know

  • Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has debuted a new enhancement to its entrance plaza

  • A large LED video wall called the Kennedy Entry Experience has been installed

  • The wall features a six-minute video that highlights moments in NASA's story, from launches and spacewalks to exhibits inside the complex

The Kennedy Entry Experience, which debuted Wednesday, is a 3,000-square-foot LED video wall that uses graphics to take visitors through different moments — past, present and future — in the U.S. space program.

Images of shuttle launches, an astronaut spacewalk and artifacts visitors will encounter inside the complex are displayed in the six-minute video. The digital wall also uses technology that makes some of the images appear 3D.

A portion of President John F. Kennedy’s famous 1962 “We choose to go to the Moon” speech is used as narration for the video that plays continuously throughout the day.

The digital display can serve multiple purposes, according to officials at KSC. Beyond the main video, the wall is capable of streaming launches and other live events. It’s also integrated into the emergency system and can display alerts to visitors during severe weather.
