Based on the “Minions” film franchise, Minion Blast, located at Universal Studios Florida, will put visitors in the middle of Villain-Con as they compete for a chance to be the next member of the supervillain group the Vicious 6.
Universal has described the attraction as an interactive blaster game experience on a moving walkway. When visitors enter the attraction, they’ll be transported to the show floor of Villain-Con. The queue will feature gadgets, vehicles, fashion accessories and other items that villains will want to use to pull off their “heinous schemes.”
Visitors will then pick up an E-Liminator X blaster — equipped with freeze rays, banana bombs and explosive nunchucks — to shoot at targets and earn points.
The moving walkway will take visitors through interactive sets, including ones inspired by members of the Vicious 6.
Universal also revealed Friday that the original voice actors who portrayed the members of the supervillain group in 2022’s “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” will be reprising their roles for the attraction, including Taraji P. Henson as Belle Bottom, Danny Trejo as Stronghold, Lucy Lawless as Nun-Chuck, Jean Claude Van Damme as Jean Clawed and Dolph Lundgren as Vengeance.
Minion Blast will also be the first attraction at Universal Orlando to offer a connected gameplay experience through the resort’s mobile app. Visitors will be able to sync their blasters to the app and track their scores, unlock special perks, participate in special missions within the attraction and more.
The construction walls around the attraction recently came down at the park, giving visitors a better view of the entrance. The attraction, set to open this summer, is located across from Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and will be part of the new Minion Land, which soft-opened last month.
The new land includes a new restaurant called Minion Cafe, the Bake My Day bakery and the Illumination character meet-and-greet location.
