The log flume ride, which replaces Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom, now features a large water tower out front.
Topped with a tiara, the tower sports the words “Tiana’s Foods,” which is the name of the successful co-op Tiana has opened in an old salt mine. The two stars at the top of the tiara represent Ray and Evangeline from the 2009 animated film.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will continue the story of Tiana, Disney’s first Black princess, while also being a love letter to the city of New Orleans.
Set a year after the events of the film, the ride will find Tiana and her friend Louis the gator in search of a missing ingredient she needs for a big Mardi Gras party.
The ride will feature other characters from the film, including Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, Tiana’s mother Eudora and Tiana’s friend Charlotte. There will also be more than a dozen new animatronic figures throughout the attraction.
Earlier this month, Disney revealed it had tapped New Orleans native PJ Morton to compose an original song for the attraction. Terence Blanchard has also been brought on to create music for the ride’s queue.
In 2020, Disney announced Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as a replacement for Splash Mountain at both Disney World and Disneyland. Magic Kingdom’s version of the ride closed in January, while Disneyland’s closed at the end of May.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open at both locations next year, although no exact opening dates have been announced.
