The attraction, which Universal describes as an “interactive, blaster game experience,” is scheduled to open this summer.
Work has been progressing on the attraction, and, in recent weeks, the exterior has become more decorative.
The entrance to Villain-Con now features a large “V” logo as seen on artwork for the attraction on the surrounding construction walls. Universal added large banners for “Villain-Con” on either side of the entrance months ago.
The storyline for Villain-Con will have visitors arriving at the fictional supervillain convention to compete to become a member of the Vicious 6. They will step onto a moving pathway that takes them around different scenes as they use blasters to hit different objects.
Villain-Con Minion Blast replaces Shrek 4-D, which closed in January of last year. The new attraction will be located across from Despicable Me Minion Mayhem as part of a newly designated Minion Land.
The land will also include a new “Minions”-themed restaurant, which is currently under construction as well.
Universal has not yet announced an opening date for Villain-Con Minion Blast.
