ORLANDO, Fla. — Multiple attractions in the KidZone area of Universal Studios Florida will close in early 2023, Universal Orlando announced late Tuesday evening.

What You Need To Know

  • Universal Studios Florida to close multiple KidZone attractions early next year

  • Fievel's Playland, Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster, Curious George Goes to Town among those closing

  • E.T. Adventure, Animal Actors on Location and SpongeBob StorePants will remain open

The attractions on the chopping block include Fievel's Playland, Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster, Curious George Goes to Town, DreamWorks Destination and Shrek and Donkey's Meet & Greet. The last day of operation for those attractions will be Jan. 15.

The long-running E.T. Adventure attraction, as well as Animal Actors on Location, the SpongeBob StorePants gift shop and KidZone Pizza Company will remain open.

The closures come as Universal makes way for new additions to the themed area. Universal didn't say what the replacements will be, but did offer a hint.

"Universal Orlando Resort will soon begin work on bringing exciting new family entertainment to Universal Studios that will immerse guests in the adventures of beloved animated characters," the resort said in a release.

More details about the new experiences will be shared "in the months ahead," Universal added.

Universal Studios Florida is seeing a lot of changes. Earlier this year, Shrek 4-D closed to make way for a new attraction. And in May, Universal revealed that Monsters Cafe had permanently closed for a new dining experience.
