ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Fantasmic! will return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Nov. 3, Disney World announced Wednesday.
What You Need To Know
- Disney World has announced the official return date for Fantasmic!
- The nighttime show will return to Disney's Hollywood Studios on Nov. 3
- It will feature upgraded special effects and a new sequence with characters such as Aladdin, Mulan and Elsa
The nighttime spectacular, which debuted at the park since 1998, was paused in early 2020 when Disney World closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the show’s closure, Disney made a few changes, including updating the effects such as lasers and lighting and adding a new sequence with moments from “Moana,” “Aladdin,” “Mulan,” “Pocahontas,” and “Frozen 2.”
The sequence, which replaces the previous Pocahontas scene, will feature an Aladdin chase with high-energy stunts, a scene with Elsa set to “Show Yourself” and a Mulan scene with martial arts.
“Through this entire sequence, we go on a journey with our heroes,” Disney Live Entertainment show director Matthew Hamel said in a statement on the Disney Parks Blog. “We see them faced with a decision, and how hard that can be for them, then watch as they find that strength within themselves to push through in a truly spectacular way.”
The revamped Fantasmic! — now with a 29-minute runtime — will still include pyrotechnics, dancing water, music, Sorcerer Mickey and villains such as Maleficent.
“Bringing back Fantasmic! here at Disney’s Hollywood Studios means so much to our guests,” said Katrina Mean Rick, broadcast creative producer for Disney Live Entertainment, in a news release. “It was a task to not only preserve the legacy of the show but also introduce new characters for the next generation.”
During its announcement, Disney World also shared that Fantasmic! dining packages will be available for select restaurants at Hollywood Studios starting Oct. 26. The dining packages will only be available for performances on Nov. 30 and beyond.
Fantasmic! will be scheduled for nightly performances at the outdoor Hollywood Hills Amphitheater; however the show is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
