ORLANDO, Fla. — SeaWorld Orlando is bringing back cursed pirates for this year's Howl-O-Scream, which kicks off Sept. 9.

What You Need To Know

  • SeaWorld Orlando is bringing back the Captain's Revenge house for Howl-O-Scream

  • The house has been reimagined into Captain's Revenge — Drowned in Darkness

  • The event will also feature a scare zone called Cut Throat Cove and a themed bar called Longshoremen Tavern

On Monday, the theme park revealed one of the haunted houses for its upcoming Halloween event.

Captain's Revenge — Drowned in Darkness, a "newly-reimagined" version of last year's Captain's Revenge house, will have visitors venturing aboard an ill-fated pirate ship that might not be so willing to let them get back to shore.

"You may just find yourself a permanent part of this crew, driven mad by a cursed treasure and doomed to face the fury of the sea," reads the official description of the house on the SeaWorld website.

New this year will be a similarly themed scare zone called Cut Throat Cove, which is set on the site of a “horrific shipwreck.”

SeaWorld is also bringing back the pirate-themed bar, Longshoremen Tavern.

This marks the second year for the more adult-oriented after-hours event, which will run select nights through Oct. 31. Last year's event featured four haunted houses and four scare zones

SeaWorld hasn't said how many houses and scare zones will be included this year but has promised "more houses, more haunts and more shows."

Additional details about the event will be shared in the coming months.

In the meantime, tickets are on sale, from single-night tickets to two-park unlimited tickets that include visits to Howl-O-Scream at both SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

SeaWorld will offer its kid-friendly Halloween event Spooktacular, which will run Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 10 through Oct. 31. The daytime event will include activities such as character meet and greets and trick-or-treating.
