The park now has a Capybara Encounter, a guide-led offering that lets visitors get an up-close look at its two Capybaras — Ben and Jerry — on Flamingo Island.
Capybaras, large rodents native to South America, are known for their friendly and social nature.
“We just love Ben and Jerry and so do our guests,” Gatorland President and Chief Executive Officer Mark McHugh said in a news release. “That’s why we decided to offer something brand new to showcase these incredible animals, their habitat and the way they interact with our other animals. It’s amazing!”
The encounter, which runs Friday through Monday afternoons, costs $10 per person.
And for the summer, Gatorland has extended its Florida resident ticket deal through July 31. During the promotion, adult admission is $16.50, down from the regular $32.99. Children ages 3-12 can get in for $11.50 rather than the regular price of $22.99.
Gatorland also has alligators, crocodiles, exhibits, a nature walk and live shows.
