ORLANDO, Fla. — Disney World has shared more details as well as a behind-the-scenes peek at “Harmonious,” the new nighttime spectacular coming to Epcot.
What You Need To Know
- "Harmonious" set to debut at Epcot on October 1
- Disney has shared more details about the show as well as a peek at the show in action
- The show will feature music from Disney movies that has been reinterpreted by musicians from around the world
The show, debuting Oct. 1, will come to life on the park’s World Showcase Lagoon and feature fireworks, lasers, Disney characters, special effects and music.
“Harmonious” will be presented in three acts — Gather, Celebrate and Unite — and will celebrate the countries and cultures around the world, according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog.
During the show, different versions of songs from various Disney movies will be played, including “Moana,” “Aladdin,” “Mulan,” “Brave,” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Disney worked with a team of musical artists around the world to reinterpret the songs “in their own voice.”
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to not just celebrate the music, the stories, the characters but to actually honor and celebrate the cultures that inspired those films,” said Shelby Jiggetts-Tivony, Disney Live Entertainment VP of Creative, in a video shared Tuesday.
The video also shows brief glimpses at the “Harmonious” barges in action, with screens showing scenes from Disney movies and other images. The video also shows “arms” on the barges moving as well as the water effects.
“Harmonious” will replace “Epcot Forever,” which has been a temporary offering while work was completed on the new show. “Epcot Forever” is scheduled to end Sept. 28.
“Harmonious” will be part of Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration.
