ORLANDO, Fla. — Aquatica Orlando, SeaWorld's water park, is showing of its upcoming attraction, Riptide Race.

  • Riptide Race due to open at Aquatica Orlando this spring
  • The attraction will be a dueling water slide
  • It will feature 2 head-to-head racing sections

The new water slide will be Florida's first dueling racer. It will feature three racing sections and two head-to-head racing sections.

"The racing sections allow you to have side-by-side interaction with you and two other friends riding in the other tube as you race down the slide to the finish," said Brian Andrelczyk, vice president of design and engineering.

Riders will start at the top of a 68-foot tower, racing along 650 feet of slide.

"Riptide Race joins an already exciting lineup of family-friendly and family thrill attractions here at Aquatica," Andrelczyk said. "We're excited to add this new, unique, repeatable experience to the rest of our great portfolio."

The ride will have a 42-inch height requirement.

Crews are putting the finishing touches on the attraction's filtration, pump pits and landscaping.

Riptide Race is scheduled to open this spring.
