ORLANDO, Fla. -- Hall of famer Cal Ripken Jr is bringing his youth baseball academy to Walt Disney World.
- The Ripken Experience coming to Disney World
- Youth baseball teams will get to compete in weeklong event
- The games will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports
Ripken's company Ripken Baseball and Disney announced the partnership Tuesday.
Starting Memorial Day Weekend next year, youth tournaments for players 6-18 will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. In addition to the tournaments, the weeklong experience will include opening day and skills competition, private coach Q&A sessions, and player and coach gifts.
Ripken hopes the experience brings out the best in the young players.
"Nowadays, we're collecting all sorts of data on big league players, and that's trickling down to some of the smaller players and trying to determine what that means for them," Ripken said.
Ripken played 21 season for the Baltimore Orioles and was a 19-time All-Star shortstop. He holds the major-league record for most consecutive games played with 2,632.
