Zach Covey joined the Spectrum News 13 family in October 2022 and brings you the forecast on weekend mornings and midday weekdays.

Born in Texas, Zach grew up as a military brat and moved quite often. From living in Washington D.C. to abroad in England and Germany, Zach has experienced a variety of different cultures and climates. It was those heat waves, blizzards, and tropical storms that inspired his passion for weather.

Zach obtained his degree in meteorology at Florida State University. While there, he learned from some of the nation's top tropical meteorologists. He credits FSU for his passion in hurricane forecasting. He's since covered several major hurricane landfalls in the United States including Hurricanes Harvey, Florence, Dorian, Irma, and Ian.

In his free time, Zach frequently heads to the theme parks in Orlando. As a season pass holder, you'll consistently find him riding a roller coaster or eating some park treats. Zach is also an avid sports fan, cheering for his Florida State Seminoles and his Washington Capitals.
