Eric Levy (he/him/his), a midday anchor with Spectrum News 13, has been with the team since September 2017. He moved to Orlando a week before Hurricane Irma hit, forcing him to dive in headfirst. Eric loves his work and calls it his dream job, he loves telling great stories about great people doing great things.
Eric is a two-time Emmy-nominated journalist with more than 20 years of experience. He started as a traffic reporter in Hartford, CT, in 2000, then moved to radio news a year later. The first story he ever covered as a journalist was the September 11, 2001 attacks, where he was amazed by New Yorkers’ stories of survival and resilience.
Aside from anchoring the weekday afternoon news hours, Eric also handles the Everyday Hero segment that airs every Monday morning and afternoon. He wants to hear from you if there's someone in your life who is an Everyday Hero, volunteering, or going above and beyond to help someone or make the world a better place.
Eric is also very open about the very personal mental health struggles he deals with every day of his life. In 2019, prior to the pandemic, Eric was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. He knows, first-hand, the struggles of living with severe anxiety, but is open about it so nobody feels like they're alone.
Eric is a proud homeowner in Orange County. He built a home from the ground up, during two supply chain shortages. Now that he's settled, he spends some of his free time making his house a home. He loves trying new restaurants, one of his favorites is Francesco's Ristorante & Pizzeria in Maitland. He loves Orlando’s welcoming atmosphere and is always out looking for the community’s best-kept secret.
