The numbers don't lie. Snowfall in Kentucky has been lacking this winter.

What You Need To Know

  •  Snow for the season remains below average

  •  Each day in February was warmer than normal

  • Snow is in the forecast late Friday

Now that we are halfway through winter, I wanted to take a look at where we stand in terms of snowfall. As a snow lover, I wish I had better news to share, but so far this season, snow has been hard to come by.

Snow totals vs. average this season

For all the snow lovers, I have some good news. Snow will be likely later on Friday into Friday night.

Model data shows an area of low pressure that will pass south of the region as cold air quickly arrives. It will be all snow along the Ohio River, but will start out as rain farther south.

Light snow will continue Friday evening, with a wintry mix and rain closer to the Tennessee border.

By midnight, it looks like the snow will be exiting the state.

Right now, it is a bit too early to talk about exact snow totals. However, some light snow accumulation does look likely Friday evening. With that, keep this in mind if you have any travel plans during that time.
