The work of a meteorologist is to tell the future, and at times, it's easy. Other times, it's hard. All times, it's about protecting you.

Our parent company - Charter Communications - is out to help find the next generation of science experts.

Eight students now have $1,000 from Charter Communications for a bright future. A nice start, says Chief Meteorologist Bryan Karrick.

"Maybe they want to be an engineer, maybe they, you know, want to teach," Karrick said. "This is giving them some money to put toward their education, toward their books.

"If any one of them ends up becoming a meteorologist, that's huge. That's another person who could save your life when weather threatens. We need those people there to be able to walk us through it. That's why we have our team of meteorologists, and that's why we're hoping that we see future coming up through the fields."

Bryan remembers wanting to get into the weather business as a kid, then meeting his idol in meteorology.

"To learn from him really inspired me to want to help others moving forward, hopefully inspire another budding meteorologist."

We want to congratulate all of our Project Weather Scholarship winners. They are:
