The first named storm of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is located about 400 miles east-northeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
Despite losing its tropical characteristics, the storm's maximum sustained winds are at 60 mph, and movement is to the east at 15 mph. The minimum pressure is at 991 mb.
Arthur formed Saturday night, marking the sixth consecutive year a named storm has formed in the Atlantic before the official start of hurricane season.
Tropical storm-force winds extend out to 160 miles from the center of Arthur.
Large swells will continue to impact much of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Arthur will turn south and slow down by the middle of this week.
Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
