A trough of low pressure digging out across the Southern Plains the next couple days will pull deep atmospheric moisture over the entire peninsula.
We’ve seen some of this moisture get squeezed out Friday, but coverage will become even more widespread heading into the weekend.
Any showers and storms developing today will move to the northeast and produce locally heavy downpours. Some neighborhoods could pick up a quick half to one inch of rain, along with gusty wind and lightning.

Minor flooding will be one of our biggest threat the next few days. Highs are set to climb up either side of 90.
Get any outdoor work done early Saturday and Sunday, as rain coverage ramps up around 70 to 80 percent both afternoons. We could see a few strong storms as well. Weekend highs are slightly cooler in the upper 80s.
Beach and Surf Forecast
A small east-southeast trade swell and wave heights of one to two feet will continue to provide us poor to fair surfing conditions into early next week. A moderate rip current threat sticks around too.
You’ll want to plan that beach time early in the day because storm coverage is running pretty high the next several days. When thunder roars, get indoors.
Tropical Update
The tropics remain very quiet to close the workweek. There are no developing systems in the Gulf, the Caribbean or the open waters of the Atlantic.
No major activity is expected over the next five days.
Hurricane season runs through Nov. 30.
