ORLANDO, Fla. — Big changes to I-4 will take place overnight tonight, and they will have a lasting impact for how you drive on the roadway.
- Crews will shut down I-4 east from midnight until 7 p.m.
- Road will be closed between Maitland Blvd., SR 434
- Detours will be in place
Eastbound I-4 between Maitland Boulevard in Orange County and Central Parkway in Seminole County, will be shifted to a new permanent configuration.
That means there will be shifts to on-ramps and merge lanes that watch out for.
The changes were supposed to happen Saturday night, but rainy weather forced a delay until tonight.
Starting at 9 p.m. tonight, the eastbound I-4 exit ramps between Maitland Boulevard and State Road 434 in Longwood will be closed until 5 a.m.
Then, at midnight, the entire eastbound section of I-4 will be closed between Maitland Boulevard and State Road 434. The highway will stay closed through 7 a.m. Monday.

Drivers will be detoured around I-4 as a result of the closure. Complete details of the roadwork and closures can be found on the I-4 Ultimate website.
Once the road is reopened Monday morning, all of the ramps and lanes will be in new, permanent configurations.
In particular, the entrance ramps onto I-4 from both Maitland Boulevard, and State Road 436 in Altamonte Springs, will realign. It means drivers will have to merge onto the highway sooner than before.
