ROCHESTER, N.Y. — While the Buffalo Sabres' season might not be going as well as they expected, one of the organization’s top prospects, who has spent time back and forth on the Thruway this year, is giving them a bit of hope.

The Rochester Americans are eyeing up another crack at the AHL's top prize - the Calder Cup.

"Everybody works so hard for each other and that’s what you need to do if you want to go in a deep playoff run," said winger Isak Rosén, who has spent most of his time this season in Rochester.

He has helped fuel their success, lighting up the lamp constantly, but he's far from doing it alone.

"Everybody has fun, and then you want to work harder for each other," he said.

Although the season is barreling toward the playoffs, the month of March was one of the least kind to the red, white and blue.

"I think that was good for us," said Rosén. “We've won so many games in a row, and like, if we lost one, we won the next one. So it was good to get some adversity here in the last couple weeks for the group.”

Rosén and company remain resilient, focusing in on their individual contortions to the roster.

"My speed," Rosén said. "That's one thing I want to do in Buffalo, too."

He’s been a regular call-up throughout the 2024-25 campaign for the Sabres, but before he stays full-time, bringing some hardware to Rochester is a priority, who feels right at home on the Amerks.

"You meet [fans] out in Rochester if you're in a grocery store or whatever. And it's always packed here. One of the best [fanbases] in the league for sure," Rosén said. "We're hoping for a really good run this year and hopefully adding a banner."
