Every soccer player's journey to the sport looks a bit different.
And that's the case for Orlando City Academy stars Juan Rojas & Colin Guske.
"My parents just took me into the field with a team in Venezuela and they just told me to pick any position," says Rojas. "And that's where it all started."
Both Rojas and Guske had their soccer paths lead them to Orlando City's Academy system.
"It was important because both my brothers played here," says Guske. "So, that's how I kind of got into here, thanks to them. I appreciate them a lot".
Rojas is a goalkeeper for the Orlando City Academy Under-15 MLS Next squad.
With over 25 matches played this season, Rojas has only conceded 13 goals, keeping seven clean sheets.
"Around December, I started putting more effort into it and started winning my spot day-by-day," says Rojas. "I started working hard, putting in extra work and stuff like that."
Guske is a Under-17 central midfielder, who signed his first professional contract this year with Orlando City B, the Lions MLS Next pro team.
He says that he's only improved since coming to Orlando.
"I've been getting better because (the Academy) can do such a good job at giving players opportunities with second team, and hopefully first team one day. They are always training and teaching us new things."
Rojas and Guske have both been standout players, not only for their Orlando City teams, but also standouts across the entire youth academy system.
They will represent Orlando City at the 2024 MLS Next All-Star game on July 23rd at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
They are among 44 players selected to participate in the game, showcasing North America's top young players in an East vs. West matchup.
