ORLANDO, Fla — Lake Highland Prep boy’s lacrosse team finished short of winning a state title last year by losing in the state semi-finals. This year their leader in goals is returning from last year, Owen Lenox.

He, along with 5 other seniors who will be playing in college, want to finish with a state championship.
“Last year was a great year. It was a big step on the way to this year, but we had a lot of determination to get to where we wanted to go. We did have success but sadly we didn’t make it all the way,” said Lenox. “Really this year is to win the state championship, that is the whole idea.”
Chemistry should be a strength for the Highlanders.
“I can know where guys will be on the field without even looking,” said Lenox.
He has been playing lacrosse since he was six years-old.
“Actually, I have an older brother that is 2 years older than me and one day he decided to bring home some lacrosse sticks and ever since then I have fallen in love with it,” said Lenox.
He has been playing attack since the start. It’s the position he always wanted to play.
“Ever since I looked up the position when I was young, I thought the name attack was cool,” he said.
Lenox's readiness and talent have led him an opportunity to play at the next level. In October 2022, he committed to Rutgers University.
“One of the main ideas in lacrosse, you have to commit early. For me, I knew the decision was made when I stepped on campus at Rutgers. It just felt right,” said Lenox. “I couldn’t be excited for the next 4 years.”
