WINTER PARK, Fla. — Winter Park’s starting quarterback Aidan Warner has been playing football all his life. It's a sport he has been playing since he was 5 years old. After a slow start to his career for the Wildcats, this year he led the his team to a district title.

In the first round of the playoffs, Aidan led his team to a victory over Lake Brantley, winning 31-0. Aidan threw for 251 yards and 4 touchdowns. It also helped that Winter Park played Lake Brantley just the week before.

"It was really big advantage. We saw what they did. We saw all their blitzes that were coming," said Warner.

Still practicing this time of year is not something that Aidan does not take for granted.

"It’s super exciting. Obviously eveyone wants to keep playing after the regular season," said Warner. "Going on to round 2 is super exciting."

Going into his senior season, he was appointed team captain even though this is the first year he has been the starting quarterback.

"Last year, he split time as one of our quarterbacks and this year he has been taking it by the reigns and done a heck of a job. He has grown 8 inches in 2 years," said head coach Tim Shifflet. "People don’t really realize when we got Aidan, he was about 5' 2” tall. Everyone kept telling me he was going to have a growth spurt and he certainly did."

Aidan carries a weighted 4.5 GPA. That helped him get in one of the best colleges in the world. This past summer he committed to play and study at Yale.

"It’s a great education, It’s division 1 football, It’s everything I could ask for in a school," said Warner.

"I thought that was an unbelievably great decision. When the Ivy’s come around and I’ve dealt with them over the years, they sell you on a 20-year plan," said Shifflet. "He is setting himself up for an unbelievable future and unbelievable career for the rest of his life."

Aidan isn’t the only player on the team committed to an Ivy League school. Wide receiver Torian Roberts is committed to Princeton.
